Q: How do I apply for a loan?
A: There are two ways you can apply for a loan.
1. You can go online to our website and fill out a loan application online.
2. You can also stop in at the Credit Union to fill out a paper application.
Q: What information does the Credit Union need when I apply for a loan?
A: You will need to fill out a loan application and provide the Credit Union with 1 month of proof of income.
Q: What is considered proof of income?
A: Pay stubs, a statement from your bank showing at least 3 direct deposits, W2 or tax returns.
Q: What do you need if I am self employed?
A: If you are self employed then you will need to provide the last 2 years of tax returns with all schedules included.
Q: I lost my debit card, how do I get a new one?
A: You can call the credit union to request a new debit card but there is a $15.00 fee involved.
Q: My debit card came but I didn't receive my pin number?
A: Call the Credit Union and an employee can set up a pin number for your card.
Q: I noticed some transactions on my account that aren't mine, what do I do?
A: You can call the Credit Union during regular business hours and we can status your card. You will then need to come in and sign a form for unauthorized items. If you suspect that your card has fraud after hours you can call the 1800 number on home page to have your card status-ed so it can not be used.
Q: How do I check my balances and transfer monies between my accounts?
A: We offer 3 easy ways to go that. You can sign up for online banking, call the credit union during business hours or call the money link number.
Q: Do you have an app for smart phones?
A: Yes, you will have to sign up for online banking on a desktop computer and then you can download the Akron Firefighters Credit Union App from the app store on your phone.
Q: Is there a way to have overdraft protection on my account so items can be paid if there is no monies available?
A: We do offer courtesy pay on accounts which allows us to pay items coming through your account up to $500.00. There is a $29.00 fee to pay those items in to over draft. To qualify for this you do have to have direct deposit coming in to your account.
Q: Can I go to any ATM and use my card without any fees?
A: You can use any First Merit Bank ATM with no fees, or go to allianceone.coop to find a ATM near you with no fees.
Q: How many transfers can I do a month from savings to checking without any fees?
A: Savings accounts are meant as a non transactional account so you are only allowed 6 per month before getting a $3.00 Reg D fee or being declined not letting you do any more transfers. You can however call the Credit Union and have an employee transfer money for you which won't count against your 6 per month.
Q: If I am traveling and plan on using my debit card should I contact the Credit Union?
A: Yes, you should contact the credit union with the dates you will be traveling and your destination so you are able to use it outside of Ohio.
Q: I am unable to make it to the credit union, are there any other credit unions I can use to access my accounts or make loan payments?
A: We are in the shared branch network. If you are ever traveling out of state or you are unable to make it to our branch you can visit http://www.co-opsharedbranch.org/ and search for a credit union near your current location. You will need to know your account number and have your driver license present when you go to another credit union. You can only make deposits, withdrawals or loan payments at other credit union.
